Crèche happens on Sunday mornings at City Centre. It is for all children aged 0-3.
For some of you this will be a new experience with a new baby and for others it will be a change, because you are new to King's and adapting to how things work with your baby or toddler. As a church we want to help you as much as possible and we understand that Sunday mornings may be a bit different for you now that you have a little one to look after! You may not have realised until now that a huge part of our Sunday mornings take place downstairs where over 100 children gather together. A proportion of these are in the crèche; children aged 0-3.
CRÈCHE SESSION
Begins when the children leave the main meeting and finishes immediately afterwards. Please collect your child promptly at this time to relieve the crèche workers on duty. The room is downstairs on the Lower Ground floor. Please follow the signs, or ask one of our team for directions.
SIGNING IN
The signing in sheet is located outside the crèche room. Please sign your child in by adding their name to the list. If you are going to stay with your child, please also write your name in the box at the top of the sheet under 'other adults present'. Please ensure you also sign your child out when collecting them after the meeting. The signing in is very important for your child's safety and for fire regulations.
CRÈCHE HELPERS
There are several people on the crèche rota each week; a leader and helpers who will each be wearing badges for you to identify them. On occasions when a child gets upset and cannot be consoled, one of the crèche workers will go and fetch the parent(s) from upstairs. This may well be necessary if the crèche is very busy. It is helpful if you let one of the helpers know roughly where you are sitting to make this easier. Alternatively, a message may be displayed on the screen in the main auditorium asking for you to come down.
CRÈCHE ROTA
Most parents find that their young baby sleeps for the majority of the service and you may not need to use the crèche for some time. However, by aged six months most parents will be using it on a regular basis. At this stage parents who are church members may be asked to be on the crèche rota as the need for helpers is always great. Most people are on once in every four or five weeks and we hope you will find it a joy and blessing to help serve in this way. Details of what this involves will be sent to you nearer the time.
BABY CHANGING FACILITIES
There is a changing table and nappy bin downstairs just beside the crèche room for your use. (You can obviously make use of these before crèche too!) There is also a baby changing unit in the disabled toilet at the top of the ramp in the main auditorium.
FEEDING, REFRESHMENTS & LUNCH
Chairs are usually set out around the baby's corner to give a bit more privacy when nursing or feeding babies. A microwave is also available in the kitchen area downstairs for warming milk or food but please note the guidelines and disclaimers on the microwave. Drinks and biscuits are offered to older children in the morning. If you
need to feed your child lunch there are a couple of baby bouncers or
highchairs in the room that you can use.
