Kings Care

Helping people in need

"I was on the streets for two years. A mate invited me to King's Care one Sunday and I started going every week. Since then everything has fallen back into place. Four months ago I started working a few hours a week at this market stall. Now I am responsible for the stall on some days! Things are now starting to work for me... it's been a big change in myself as well as my way of life."

History

King’s Care was started in Norwich in 2000, when members of King’s Community Church decided to help the city’s homeless and disadvantaged people. They wanted to be very practical in providing food, clothes, laundry facilities and showers to people who did not have ready access to these things. Consultation with other service providers in the city indicated a gap in provision on Sundays and so this became the initial focus for the work. The church has continued and built upon this history of meeting the needs of the local community and is committed to the vision of King’s Care.

When and where does King's Care happen?

King's Care takes place most Sunday afternoons, between 2.00pm and 4.00pm in the Community Lounge at the King's Centre. It is staffed by volunteers from King's Community Church.
